Osoby, które padły ofiarą handlarzy ludźmi, niewolnictwa i przymusowej służby domowej nie otrzymują systematycznego wsparcia od państwa – ostrzega raport brytyjskiego Work and Pensions Committee. Oznacza to, że wiele ofiar handlu ludźmi jest narażonych na ryzyko trafienia z powrotem w ręce handlarzy. Organizacje pozarządowe ostrzegają, że takie osoby, w przypadku braku opieki ze strony państwa, są narażone na ryzyko ubóstwa, alkoholizmu i na wyzysk. W 2016 r. w Wielkiej Brytanii zidentyfikowano 1400 ofiar handlu ludźmi.
