Celem KE jest opracowanie unijnej strategii, która ma zapobiegać rozprzestrzenianiu fałszywych informacji. "Musimy zapewnić naszym obywatelom narzędzia, dzięki którym będą w stanie zidentyfikować fałszywe informacje, co pozwoli poprawić zaufanie w internecie" - powiedział pierwszy wiceprzewodniczący KE Frans Timmermans.
