Z najnowszego raportu organizacji wynika, że nawet "modelowe" demokracje mają problem z respektowaniem wolnych mediów. Światowy ranking w 2017 r. otwierają kraje skandynawskie, z Norwegią, Szwecją i Finlandią na czele. Kraje europejskie zajęły osiem z dziesięciu najlepszych miejsc w rankingu.
