After Associazione Luca Coscioni's years of fighting and several highly publicized assisted suicides in Switzerland - such as DJ Fabo's this year - the law on living wills is about to be discussed by the Italian Parliament. The proposed law would still not allow for active euthanasia, but it would at least regulate the right for gravely ill patients to ask doctors to stop any kind of cure, including hydration and feeding. This would be huge progress for Italian end-of-life legislation, which is still considered extremely repressive.
