A draft law to determine the general requirements, conditions and procedure for performing euthanasia, to regulate the rights and duties of patients who have expressed their will on the subject and also to regulate the licensing of euthanasia services has now been submitted to the Seimas (Lithuanian parliament) for deliberation. The adoption of this law would fill a current gap in the legal system, where euthanasia is not available to end the suffering of terminal patients in great physical or emotional pain.
