Crowdfunding Campaign for Young People Without a Home: Let's Be Good Hosts!

On International Human Rights Day, the new crowdfunding campaign "Good hosts: Let's support young creative people without home!" was presented in Zagreb. The aim is to raise money for people who want to create art, but have no means to do it.

The campaign is an initiative of Kries, together with Are You Syrious?, "Welcome" Refugee Support Initiative, SOLIDARNA - Foundation for Human Rights and Solidarity and Solidarity Coalition Split.

To support at least 12 young people without adequate parental care who are residents of SOS Children's Village Croatia and refugees who are living in Zagreb, the organizations hope to collect $8,000 through the INDIEGOGO platform.

With that money, they will provide the necessary painting, photography and music equipment and a place to work and learn, so that creative young people have the support of a real home.

The universal language of art

At the launch of the campaign, which was held as part of the public presentation SOLIDARNA - Foundation for Human Rights and Solidarity, they showed a video inviting citizens to be good hosts and to provide young people without adequate parental care and refugees who came to Croatia to escape war the means to creatively express themselves.

On this occasion, Erol Zejnilović from the Kries explained that their new album Selo s okukama was devoted to creative people who, at the moment, do not have the conditions to express themselves with the universal language of art, and that they will give the album as a gift to everybody who will make donations through INDIEOGO campaign.

Julija Kranjec from the "Welcome" Refugee Support Initiative presented the campaign and said that until now, the work was focused on ensuring the basic needs of refugees - but that they, like all other people, also have other needs and resources to contribute to this society. She added that, if we do not provide the socially disadvantaged groups the opportunity to realize their potential, we are damaging the whole society.

Donate what you can

Luka Juranić from the initiative Are You Syrious? reminded the audience that young people in particular need support to create and concluded that it was time to really become good hosts and provide support to those in need.

This campaign is not only about collecting cash donations. It is possible to donate the necessary equipment, as well as time and skills. That is why the creative points will be formed, where citizens can directly donate instruments, brushes, dance shoes, space for singing and photo equipment.
