On February 3, the Dutch House of Representatives appointed Reinier van Zutphen as the new national ombudsman. He succeeds Alex Brenninkmeijer, who left his post thirteen months ago. Mr. van Zutphen has extensive experience as a judge in Utrecht, Den Haag, Almelo, Luxemburg, Amsterdam, Curaçao and Alkmaar. Furthermore, he used to be, among other things, the chairman of the Dutch Association for the Judiciary. Since 2012, Mr. van Zutphen has been the president of the Dutch Administrative Court for Trade and Industry.
