L'Hungarian Civil Liberties Union partecipa ad un'iniziativa internazionale rivolta al presidente del Comitato ONU per i Diritti Umani per la modifica dell'art. 17 (diritto alla privacy) della Convenzione Internazionale sui Diritti Civili e Politici. Le organizzazioni ritengono che l'articolo, in vigore dal 1998, sia obsoleto, dato che l'impennata del numero di persone che hanno accesso a internet anche tramite cellulare ha modificato il contesto della normativa sulla protezione dei dati. I firmatari chiedono nuove norme per rispondere alle sfide della protezione dei dati nell'era digitale.
