About Liberties
The Civil Liberties Union for Europe (Liberties) is a Berlin-based watchdog that safeguards the human rights of everyone in the European Union.
We work on multiple human rights issues, including free speech, data protection, the threats and opportunities of artificial intelligence for human rights, media freedom and the freedom of civil society organizations to do their work.
In our EU-wide campaigns, we work closely with our network of members in Brussels and across 18 EU countries, or with other international nonprofits, including Greenpeace, Transparency International or Amnesty International. Our campaign initiatives involve intensive research, legal analysis, advocacy work, or media outreach and digital communications. For this we produce a significant amount of in-depth reports, policy recommendations, researches, press materials or social media content.
Liberties is also leading the initiative to reshape human rights narratives. In practice, we help other organizations boost their messaging through e-learning courses, issue-specific guides and workshops.
The Liberties life
The Liberties team is small but nimble, combining dynamic new communications strategies with deep expertise in European human rights issues. Part of our strength comes from our diversity – although we are based in Berlin, our staff comes from across Europe and the world.
Our team is collaborative, supportive, and serious in our mission, but our work environment encourages a light-hearted atmosphere, extending from our physical offices to our remote workspaces. We value close cooperation – working together in small teams, using collaborative tools and combining expertise in advocacy and strategic communications. Your ideas are always appreciated and considered, and you will have a direct hand in the projects and campaigns we work on.
Our Berlin headquarters is located in the heart of Germany’s capital.

But although we come from diverse backgrounds, we share the belief that human rights should be enjoyed by all. Meet the entire Liberties team here.
