The UN Working Group on discrimination against women visited Spain December 9-19 and concluded that the country's efforts to integrate women into public, political and economic life and to eradicate domestic violence continue to be hampered by policies adopted in the wake of the economic crisis. The experts highlighted that the prevalence of gender-based violence remains alarming. They also welcomed the withdrawal of a bill that would have limited women’s access to abortion. The group will publish its report in June 2015.
