The tiny German town of Ostritz, near the Polish border, has decided to push back against neo-Nazis. Some 3,000 townspeople and other concerned citizens from the region recently turned up to oppose a Shield and Sword (SS) festival taking place in a hotel in the town. The region is a hotbed of support for the far right; in the 2017 federal election, more than 30% of people in the district around Ostritz voted for the far-right Alternative for Germany party. But townspeople remain adamant that they will not let their town become a beacon for the extreme right.
