A recent spike in the number of migrants from Algeria to Spain has caused Spanish authorities to summon the Algerian ambassador to explain the situation. Beginning last week, hundreds of migrants landed on the coasts of Murcia and Almeria. On November 20 alone, 464 migrants arrived in Spain. The sudden influx of migrants forced authorities to house the newcomers in an unfinished prison near Malaga.
