Forty people live in a "hospital" in Přerov in conditions similar to those of a Victorian workhouse. They have only one shower, are undernourished and have only one person to care of them. "Most of them are handicapped people who can't walk and are poorly oriented in space and time," said Senator Jitka Seitlová. She also commented that the existence of this hospital is a result of the failure of state institutions. The manager of the hospital is defending himself, saying that he fills a gap in the current social system.
