A self-employed woman who gave birth in 2005 is still entitled to benefits or substitute damages, ruled a court in Midden-Nederland. The woman went to court because there were no pregnancy or childbirth benefits in the Netherlands between August 1, 2004, and June 4, 2008, for female entrepreneurs. The court ruled that this was in violation of the UN Women's Convention and that the woman should be compensated.
