As a result of changes to its judicial system, Poland has been suspended from the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary (ENCJ). The European body argues that the country’s judges are no longer seen as being independent of political influence. After a fact-finding mission by the ENCJ, Poland's national member, the Polish Judicial Council (KRS), was stripped of voting rights and excluded from participating in the organisation's activities. The ENCJ is particularly worried about the latest changes to the KRS, which is supposed to be politically independent in nominations to its bench.
