Amid the current debate on the admission of refugees, the president of the Federal Constitutional Court, Andreas Voßkuhle, has recalled that the right to asylum is universal and applies indefinitely to everyone and that a "maximum number" is inadmissible. It is important to distinguish between asylum and immigration, which could be limited by politics, says Voßkuhle. The German Constitution stands for a "society of diversity" that includes the freedom of religion and the establishment of a pluralistic society.
