The implementation of the new Lithuanian Law on NGOs must be transparent

The first Law to ever regulate non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Lithuanian history came into force on the 1st of April. The Law gives more opportunities for NGOs and state institutions to cooperate, a practice that was fragmented up until now. Still, NGO representatives note that its transparent implementation may be jeopardized by the draft law on the provisions of the NGO Council, which is currently being deliberated and does not contain clear provisions for a procedure to form the Council.
