Tens of thousands of people have demonstrated during the G7 summit in Germany. The protests began in Munich with the International Summit of Alternatives, about 100 kilometers away from the actual G7 meeting location in Elmau. There have been actions and demonstrations in Elmau as well, but under strict conditions. For instance, critics of the G7 were not allowed to protest in sight of the venue. The coalition Stop G7 has criticized the high costs, the massive police presence and the repressive measures against the protest.
