Even detention facilities are unable to escape the heat wave that has engulfed Lithuania. According to the wardens of Panėvėžys Correction House, the convicts, unable to bear the heat in their cells, break the rules, tearing at the window frames or trying to enter restricted areas of the facility. They continue to face mounting health problems. Inmates at Lukiškės Prison are unable to open windows and are only allowed to shower once a week. Some female convicts stay at correctional facilities together with small children, who are even less able to endure the heat.
