A Dutch judge has called the minister of education to order because he did not grant a student an exemption for a civic integration course. The refugee student, who had obtained a propaedeutic certificate in Dutch studies from the University of Leiden, was obliged to attend an integration course. The decision shows that the Amsterdam court is holding the Ministry of Education to account. The judge decided that the student no longer needs to attend a civic integration course because he had already demonstrated his fluency in the Dutch language and integration into Dutch society.
