The House of Lords, the upper chamber of the UK Parliament, has voted to keep the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights in force following Brexit. The 316 to 245 vote is yet another blow to the government's hope to shed EU agreements from national law following the UK's exit from the EU. The House of Commons will now consider the Lords' vote and may overturn it. 316 to 245 The Charter of Fundamental Rights is separate from the European Convention on Human Rights and sets out a range of civil, political and social rights guaranteed to EU citizens.
