Facebook on Tuesday introduced new transparency tools for political advertisers on the social media site. Advertisers now have to prove the identity and location of any organisation or party that has paid for such adverts, and each advertisement will carry a message saying who financed it. Additionally, political ads will be available in an archive, where previous adverts issues by any party will be accessible, even without a Facebook account. The new system is being rolled out first in the UK and Europe, then in the US and Brazil.
