An investigation by campaign group Big Brother Watch’s concludes that face recognition technology used by UK police flags a "staggering" number of innocent people as suspects. Big Brother Watch submitted freedom of information requests to every police force in the UK – in response, two acknowledged they are currently testing facial recognition cameras. The Metropolitan Police used it at events where the cameras incorrectly flagged 102 people as potential suspects. It led to no arrests. South Wales Police said its technology had made 2,685 "matches" in 14 months - but 2,451 were false alarms.
