The Dutch minister for education, culture and science, Jet Bussemaker, will make an appeal in New York before the United Nations, to put the fight against violence against women high on the global agenda, as she represents the European Union. She wants to focus the problem towards men, in her home country as well. In her view, men play a crucial role in the fight against sexual violence and sexual intimidation. Rape and violence against women are problems that have re-entered the public attention after the sexual assaults in Cologne, says Bussemaker.
