Despite the large demonstration by various groups in front of Palazzo Montecitorio this Monday, April 11, during the vote on the Minniti-Orlando decree on security and immigration, the measure was approved by the Italian Parliament. Participants of the sit-in included civil society organizations Arci, CILD, Asgi, Acli, Libera, Cnca, Fondazione Migrantes, and Doctors Without Borders as well as trade unions and political parties. The objective was to raise a unified voice against the bill, which calls for more centers of detention and expulsion while curbing asylum seekers' appeal rights.
