30,000 Slovaks Demand More Action Against Corruption

Tens of thousands of Slovaks flooded the streets of Bratislava on Sunday, 15 April, to demand more government reform and action against corruption. The protest comes seven weeks after the murder of journalist Jan Kuciak, which sparked a political crisis and forced the prime minister to resign. Kuciak and his fiancée were murdered as the journalist was nearing completion of a story on corruption among politically connected business people. The roughly 30,000 people who demonstrated Sunday want the police chief and the special prosecutor sacked and an enhanced effort to crackdown on corruption.
