Tens of thousands of people gathered last night in Bucharest and other Romanian cities for a third night of protests against a government decree that will free dozens of officials jailed for corruption. The prime minister has refused to withdraw the measure, but Romania's president has vowed to challenge it in court. Critics say the decree will roll back progress made to fight corruption following Romania's accession to the EU in 2007. Over 200,000 people protested around Romania on Wednesday and again last night, in the largest public demonstration in the country since the fall of Communism.
