Il 25 novembre il Parlamento Lituano ha respinto la candidatura di Diana Gumbrevičiūtė-Kuzminskienė a Garante per le Pari Opportunità. Secondo i membri del Parlamento che hanno votato contro "la candidata ha tenuto nascosta la sua partecipazione sistematica ai seminari organizzati da gay e lesbiche in Lituania." Si ritiene che sia stata respinta per via del suo aperto sostegno alla legalizzazione delle unioni civili tra coppie omosessuali. Poiché il Parlamento aveva respinto anche il candidato precedente, la carica di Garante per le Pari Opportunità è vacante per il secondo anno di fila.
