Molte organizzazioni per i diritti dei bambini hanno chiesto di modificare la legge affinché sia garantito un permesso di soggiorno ai figli dei migranti che si trovano in Olanda da oltre 5 anni. Per Defence for Children, UNICEF e Save the Children, molti bambini vivono nella paura e nell'incertezza. La sanatoria del 2013 non è stata sufficiente. "Il 92% dei bambini che hanno fatto richiesta sono stati respinti, nonostante vivessero in Olanda da oltre 5 anni quando hanno fatto domanda di permesso di soggiorno," sottolineano le associazioni. E' stata anche lanciata una petizione.
