Women marched in solidarity in Vilnius on 8 March to bring attention to issues surrounding women’s rights in Lithuania, including widespread sexual harassment and systematic exploitation. According to the organisers of the march, this year’s focus was the unpaid work that women do at home. The participants also drew attention to the fact that the majority of senior government positions are taken up by men. At the same time, Prime Minister Skvernelis claimed that while “we love women”, professionalism and personal characteristics are more important when choosing ministers.
