GeenStijl describes itself as "tendentious, unfounded and gratuitously offensive."

A Dutch shock blog is the target of an advertising boycott campaign launched by more than 140 women. In an open letter, TV journalists, politicians and a leading economist accused the website GeenStijl of denigrating women, online intimidation, racism and homophobia. The letter singled out well-known companies like Rabobank and the Efteling theme park as well as the Dutch ministry of defense for "paying the salaries of the most influential trolls on the internet." Other famous brands, including the brewer Grolsch, Ikea and the Dutch tax office, have decided to pull their ads from the site.
