With wars and conflicts continuing to rage across the world, more than 1.19 million people are projected to need resettlement in 2017, according to a new report from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. It is expected that up to 40 percent of these will be Syrians, by far the largest group, but the report made clear that demand for resettlement places far outpaces the available number. High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi said that we are "seeing seeing resettlement taken to a new level" and noted that in 2014, the projected number of people needing resettlement was 691,000.
