During the Human Rights Congress in Geneva this March, the United Nations made statements on several cases, including Italy's, where it highlighted 44 “hot points” regarding human rights issues. Major issues that were pointed out included prison overcrowding, the criminalization of torture, police violence, collective expulsions, hate speech and discrimination against minorities and LGBTI persons, and the grave difficulties in accessing abortion.
