According to Minister of Foreign Affairs Bert Koenders, investing in journalism in the Russian language is important, as the Russian government is "giving stronger direction to journalists and media organizations." Koenders wants people from Russian-speaking countries such as Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia and Azerbaijan to be able to choose for independent journalism.
