Spain is experiencing a 'chilling effect' on satire and dissent because of an anti-terrorism law that is pushing social media users, musicians and journalists towards self-censorship, Amnesty International has warned. The group said there has been an "exponential increase" in prosecutions under the law, Article 578 of the criminal code. Under the article, anyone found guilty of "glorifying terrorism" or "humiliating the victims of terrorist crimes or their relatives" can be jailed, fined and banned from holding public sector jobs.
