A solidarity action supporting Polish women against the government's initiative to completely ban abortions took place in Vilnius on October 3. At present, abortion is illegal in Poland except in cases of rape or incest, when the woman's life is in jeopardy, or if the fetus is irreparably damaged. The proposal would make abortion illegal in all cases. Lithuanian women are expressing their solidarity with the women in Poland by wearing black, mourning the potential loss of reproductive rights and possible women's deaths due to unsafe abortions.
