The Romanian Prosecutor’s Office claims to have devised and implemented a "strategy" as an answer to the numerous complaints lodged in recent years regarding police violence. Prime Minister Dacian Cioloș himself praised the strategy in a reply to the concerns of the Council of Europe's commissioner for human rights, Nils Muižnieks. Meanwhile, there were 828 complaints lodged against police officers for abusive behavior in Romania in 2015, but only a single case reached a courtroom.
