The Italian NGO Lunaria has recently presented a report on the reception system for asylum seekers and refugees in Rome. The report illustrates how the CAS and the SPRAR systems are working in the city and looks at the strengths and weaknesses of a reception system, which – despite repeated promises of change – still remains based on an emergency approach rather than on a systematic one, and is thus not apt to guarantee the humane reception of asylum seekers in the Italian capital. In other words: there is still much work to be done to ensure a proper welcome for refugees!
