"Abortion is the prime cause of femicide in the world," stated posters put up in Rome, leading to public outrage. Women’s rights groups objected the use of the word “femicide” – often used for the killing of women by men. Madrid-based CitizenGo, the group behind the posters, timed the campaign to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the abortion law in Italy and the “march for life” in Rome on Saturday. The widespread anger at the posters led the city's mayor to decide to have them taken down.
