A new report on reform schools in Bulgaria has been compiled and published by Ombudsman Maya Manolova, based on the monitoring carried out by her team in social boarding schools and reform schools across the country. The report criticizes the facilities and material conditions of the institutions, the educational process, the violence and the lack of medical care. In 2014, the Bulgarian Helsinki Committee presented a study with similar findings and called for immediate reforms to these schools, which are part of the juvenile justice system.
