The new Spanish Parliament was inaugurated on January 13, following elections last December. The Popular Party, which governed in the previous administration, received the most votes but lost its absolute majority. In this context, the PSOE, the main opposition party, has formally requested that two highly controversial reforms be repealed: the Citizen Security Act (known as the "Gag Law") and the limits imposed on the investigation of crimes, which have led to impunity and, therefore, the failure to compensate victims.
