The Netherlands Institute for Human Rights received a record number of questions and reports about discrimination last year. In total, the organization received 4,259 reports and questions. This is an increase of 33 percent compared to 2016, according to the Discrimination Cases 2017 Monitor. One of the reasons for this is the reporting mechanism for pregnancy discrimination that was launched last year. Thirty-five percent of all notifications received are about pregnancy discrimination and 22 percent are from people with a disability or chronic illness.
