On the occasion of World Refugee Day (June 20), the Belgian League of Human Rights (LDH) conducted a civil disobedience action against closed detention centers. Four activists chained themselves to a drum filled with 500 kilos of concrete to block the entrance to the Ministry for Asylum and Migration in Brussels. Each year, more than 6,000 migrants are detained in five closed detention centers in Belgium, simply because they have no residence permit. LDH calls for the closure of these detention centers.
