Several associations are calling on Belgium MPs to vote against a bill that aims to lift the obligation of professional secrecy for members of state social security in the context of the fight against terrorism. This reform, which was heavily criticized by the State Council, weakens the relationship of trust between social benefits recipients and social workers. Under the bill, social workers will have to check (alongside their assistance work) if each social benefits recipient presents serious indications of supporting terrorism.
