A journalist for a local Polish newspaper has had charges of trespassing dismissed after he had gone to a veterinary clinic to investigate the conditions in which homeless cats were kept at the clinic. The latest judgment, the third court decision in the case, dismissed the charges and closed the case because the journalist acted in the public interest and because there was negligible social harm from the journalist’s actions. This is an important decision in the context of journalists’ right to collect information.
