The proposal on a new Justice, Rights, and Values Fund was presented on Wednesday in the European Parliament’s Civil Liberties Committee (LIBE). The fund aims to support NGOs protecting European values in response to widespread attacks against civil society organizations. The EP is responding to a call by the European Commission from May 2018 outlining plans for the fund in the next EU budget period. Compared to the original EU Commission proposal, the EP LIBE report seeks to almost double the funding for the program, to 1 billion euros. Click here to read more about the Values Fund.
