Anti-Black Pete activist Jerry Afriyie will not be sanctioned by a Dutch court. The public prosecutor demanded a fine of 1,500 euros because he resisted arrest and assaulted an officer during the arrival of Saint Nicholas in Gouda in 2014, where supporters and opponents of Black Pete gathered. Afriyie is the only one from the 90 arrested protesters who was prosecuted. According to the judge, the police had been too forceful in handling Afriyie's arrest. The arrest was also an unfair restriction of the right to freedom of expression.
