European parliamentarians will vote this week on two reports about tightening the rules for using the General Expenditure Allowance, a part of their official expenditure, worth 50,000 euros annually. Last year a consortium of investigative journalists found widespread abuses, including rent payments to national political parties or to personal accounts.
