Over 160 people, including some of the most prominent news anchors and reporters in Poland, have either been fired or quit state broadcasting since the new conservative government took power seven months ago. Since taking office, the Law and Justice Party has moved quickly to exert its control over state media, intensifying concerns among journalists and human rights groups that Warsaw is swaying towards authoritarianism at the expense of freedom of expression and other civil liberties.
