The four judges’ associations and the three prosecutors’ associations in Spain have agreed on a mobilization calendar for April, leading to a strike on May 22, if the authorities do not take seriously their proposals to improve the justice system. Prosecutors and judges demand, among other things, reforming the General Council of the Judiciary, strengthening judicial independence, modernizing the justice system, the independence of the Prosecutor’s Office and its budgetary independence, increasing the number of judges and prosecutors, designations by merits, skills, equality and transparency.
